Cousins Preview

My darling cousin Anne and her wonderful family came to visit us for a week.  We had so much fun but the highlight for me was helping Anne make dresses for her girls and putting together outfits and taking their family pictures!  I am excited in how they turned out and want to share our favorite!  I just got a Mac computer a few months ago and haven't really gotten a chance to work with i photo so I hope this works!

Yeah!  It worked and was super easy!  Hopefully you will be hearing more from me!

Big Surprise

A week ago today Marc and I booked hotel and flight to take the kids to Disney Land! I really wanted to surprise them on the morning of but Marc wanted to let them have a few days of exicitment so we are going to tell them tomorrow morning Valentines Day!

I wrapped up some Disney shirts with notes inside. In Dylan's his note says we are going to... And Kate's days Disneyland!

They are going to freak! I also wrote a quote from Walt on our note board and we have a week calendar that I try to write one thing a day. The kids really like checking it so I updated that too.

Pinewood derby

We had the pinewood derby last week as well as the science fair all on the same night. It was tons of fun! Dylan did great at the science fair- what body part will grow more bacteria? Ears, nose, toes or mouth? Quite interesting!

He had so much fun at the derby even though his car didn't do so hot! We made the stands at scouts for all who participated I think they turned out so good! For snack we made cars out of twinkies and Oreos. They were a hit!

Rainbow Party!!!!

Our little Kate turned 5 on January 19th! I can not believe my baby is 5 I can't talk about it she is so old, therefore so is her mom! We had decided like way back in October that we were going to have a Rainbow Party! We had lots of fun ideas and I think Kate really enjoyed herself!

It was fun doing all the rainbow food. It took pretty much all day to make the cake and the individual jello cups. I got the glasses at Ikea and they got sent home with them in their goodie bags. We had a total of 12 kids participating in the party (9 girls and 3 boys) and a few other older siblings running around with Dylan.

We had also invited our babysitters Kylie and Macy to come help which was so nice to have extra hands! Macy did all of the girls nails rainbow colors and brought some cute American Girl nail stickers to put on.

We had a couple crafts making rainbows out of paper plates using paint and cotton balls. We only had a couple colors so we could talk about mixing and show the kids how to make different colors. Kate wanted to make bracelets and we modge podge colorful fabric to the little wooden dolls and they colored the hair, and faces. I think even the boys enjoyed themselves and they all got their nails painted too!

I about passed out blowing up the balloons for the rainbow banner! I totally copied Design Mom but about 1/4 of the size she did!
(A little blurry too much movement)!

FIVE!?!?

Things we love about Kate!
1. She loves to help out around the house or with anything as long as she is with us!
2. She has such a wonderful imagination! I love listening to her play!
3. She has a creative ability of working in odd words she hears into her vocab ex. when she is mad yelling out "I am so fired up!" Where did she get that from Marc?
4. She is extremely honest in everything! Might be just her age but man she just says whatever she is thinking with out any hesitation.
5. She loves to sing and dance! She was so excited that she had ballet class on her birthday! Some favorite music these days are: Annie, Sound of Music, Wicked, anything from Glee and of course all the Disney Princess Movies

We love you so much Kate and we are incredibly thankful to have your sweet loving face with us everyday! You bring so many smiles to all around you!

I had made this dress before we went to Utah with the vision in my head of getting her pictures taken in Utah with all the great buildings painted in such fun colors! I also knew that if I did not have the picture before Christmas I would never get the invites out in time! So excited with how they turned out! I did them in my new Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 and had them printed at Kinkos so I could get them the same day! On the left of the picture I sewed 3 layers of the party crepe paper and frayed them. Where do my children learn to pose?!

My Girl

I am sitting on the couch wasting time on the computer just relaxing when my kids that have been in bed since 7:45 keep coming down. Dylan is reading a book and asking me questions and my Kate is trying to make the house look nice before her friend comes over tomorrow at noon. She is totally bussling around like I do picking everything up and putting it away. There was a lot out from Christmas and she has carried all her things to her room and continued to clean everyone else's stuff up. Pushing in chairs, getting all the dinner dishes together, and I think I hear her sweeping the kitchen! Oh my what have I created?

My boy

My sweet Dylan he always wants me to make him things and after I finished his pajama bottoms he came up with the crazy idea of the eye mask. He does like it pitch black when he goes to bed so I whipped these out and he has worn them for a week straight! Crazy boy I sure love him tons! He is totally out but made the face with the flash-sorry bub I couldn't resist!

Owie

I was trying to hurry and do laundry, pack and of course finish a skirt for Kate I wanted to take to Utah with me at 10:00 at night when I was being stupid cutting fabric with my rotary cutter sideways instead of up and down when I sliced my middle finger on my left hand. I have never done anything like that before! Good thing my parents were over- we got a hold of Dr. Rollert (my boss) and he kindly met us at the office around 11:30 to give me two stitches.

Sneak peak

We all know I love birthday parties and with kates in January I feel like I need to plan a little early to accomplish everything I want to do. So my friend Anna made her girls a really cute dress and we were at the quilt store nod day and Kate found this cute rainbow chevron fabric. We had talked about a rainbow party so we had to buy it of course!
My original plan was to take the pictures at the salt flats while we were in Utah but that didn't happen...these are just a couple Tracie took on my phone so not the finished project.

Buck Up

Not a day goes by that I think...I should blog about this and you all know I have failed miserably....I have the excuse computer too slow... don't have good pictures... or have not downloaded them and don't feel like dealing with that, so into a list it goes for when I finally get around to it.  And then I feel like I can't just start because that would be weird right?!  NO IT WONT!  That's what I finally told myself tonight so here goes onto the REAL post.

We have a new pet.  Long story short we sold our house lived with my brother for 5 months bought new house did a ton of renovation and somewhere in there I promised my kids a new pet when we were settled.  So after lots of talking and research we decided on a bearded dragon.  My wonderful cousin Jon taught us all about them and hooked us up with one that is 3 1/2 years old and needed a new home.  We picked him up a couple weeks ago and he has become a wonderful addition to our family.

I had to work all day today and the new stay at home dad had the kids.  I called at 5 to say I was driving home and was informed they were outside with Rango letting him soak up some sun.  Got home 40 minutes later I could see all the people outside and asked where Rango was.  I was told they had put him back so I left it.  It is now 9:30 and we just had major drama!  Here is the timeline:
8:00 kids in bed
8:30 lights out
9:00 Dylan yelling Rango is not in his cage!  I had assumed sneaky Kate had him in bed with her so I head upstairs and Dylan goes running out the front door completely frantic!  The thoughts going through my head were not good.  Apparently Kate had taken him on the front porch swing and covered him with a pillow and forgot about him!  The poor thing is freezing, Dylan is bawling and Kate is fake crying just for effect.

Can you say Good Night!

My Head...

I NEVER stop thinking and lately I have been thinking a lot of the same things and can not turn my brain off so I thought it might help if I write a few things down. I wonder constantly how I can get everything done that I want to and that I need to, to create a balance in my home raising a healthy and happy family. My thoughts:

1. Nutrition and Exercise- For years I have had different influences in my life that have made me want to make what goes into our bodies a higher priority. Lately Stacie has been working at Dylan's school to have a garden and now she wants to help turn the school lunches around. It inspires me because her daughter always brings a sack lunch but she is concerned about the whole community, so I really want to try and do better with my family.

Has anyone been watching Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution? Find it and watch it! He is truly amazing! I have a dinner group with two of my friends where we cook for each other once a week to help us cut back on the time we have to spend in the kitchen. My goal is to make truly healthy good meals. My night is Tuesday nights and I want to share what I make on my blog with the recipe and picture. Maybe Laura and Mindy can be food critics for me???

Along with eating healthy I need to be better at my EXERCISING!!!! Every week I swear I come up with a new plan that I think I can follow and continue. This week I only ran once! My goal would be to go 4 times a week to do 15 minutes of yoga every day, and do weights on the days I run.

2. Housekeeping/Laundry- Why why do I stress about this so much? It should be so easy and I struggle! I keep hoping if and when we move into a bigger house I won't feel like the walls are closing in and every time I turn around there is crap everywhere!!!

3. Friends and Family relationships- I love all my friends and family so much and it frustrates me that it is so hard sometimes to keep in touch! I get so bummed that I can't keep up on my blog and when I check other people's blogs I find out things like my sweet amazing cousin is pregnant!?!? I had no idea! Blogs are so good to keep people connected but I miss talking and getting phone calls when exciting things happen in my loved ones lives! I am always wanting to do things and show my love and I can not keep up!

4. Teaching my kids- I am always thinking up things that I would love to do with my kids to open their minds and learn from me and not just what they learn from school and from their church teachers. It seems though whenever we are home we are taking care of picking up, bathing doing our thing and they need to be able to play!

5. Creating- I love my crafts, hobbies or whatever you want to call it but sometimes it is hard to find the time to partake of the things that make me tick. I also have a hard time drawing the line at all the things I would love to do! I love my crafting friends who feel like I do and for our wonderful husbands who let us craft to our hearts content almost every Thursday night!

"The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul. No matter our talents, education, background or abilities, we each have an inherent wish to create something that did not exist before. We develop ourselves and others when we take unorganized matter into our hands and mold it into something of beauty."

-Dieter F. Uchtdorf
I Love this!

For now I guess thats all folks!
